SWS-10D4s are 10” subwoofers that are part of the new Type-S subwoofers from Alpine. This company took its patented technologies and redesigned its Type-R subwoofers. The results are subwoofers that exceed all expectations of similarly classed ones. They provide deeper bass extension, improved output, greater power handling and added control capabilities. These are sold in single units.
FEA-Optimized Motor Structure
These new subwoofers have a new look on top of improved performance. They sit at a 5.6” depth, which allows for a variety of installation situations. The FEA-Optimized Motor Structure combined with Alpine’s HAMR Suspension Design provides the highest SPL and X-max output to these subwoofers within their category. These subwoofers deliver the best output in their class along with ultra-low distortion thanks to one-way X-mas measuring 15mm. This leads to an unparalleled quality in sound.
The dual-sided CRC motor structure is new and similar to the one in the Type-R Thin subwoofers, and provides the SWS-10D4s with a highly controlled, ultra-linear sound. This design is patented by Alpine and creates an ideal linear and symmetrical magnetic field that the coil travels through, and this minimizes distortion and this improves the sound quality. The double-stacked, high-grade magnets guarantee adequate clearance as far as high excursion is concerned while providing enough juice to power the subwoofers.
The 65mm diameter voice coil offers almost twice the area as the 38mm voice coil used in previous subwoofers. This added area allows cooling to occur faster with the voice coil. In turn, this keeps the bass tracks reliable, clean and without any compression.
Another important feature is the high strength steel frame that Alpine includes in the SWS-10D4 this keeps the bass coming in strong, while allowing the subwoofer stay cooler. Thanks to the 8 AWG Push Terminals these subwoofers receive the correct amount of power.
